.....................................................................................................................................................................
some notes
"Each son or daughter of a given country has a mission, a personal and social responsibility"
"pursuit of the common good"
"Building a future of freedom requires love of the common good and cooperation in a spirit of subsidiarity and solidarity."
"We know that in the attempt to be freed of the enemy without, we can be tempted to feed the enemy within. To imitate the hatred and violence of tyrants and murderers is the best way to take their place" [is not the enemy within, egoo?]
"Politics is, instead, an expression of our compelling need to live as one, in order to build as one the greatest common good: that of a community which sacrifices particular interests in order to share, in justice and peace, its goods, its interests, its social life"

So who determines what that living as one looks like?
Who determines & judges what is common good - the pope?

We Do

I'm sure that somtime in your long life you have helped do something with some other people which could have not been accomplished by any of your acting alone.  Surely you could have gone to any of them and said, "We did it", "We did good", and gotten a high five.

Well that is the spirit!

It is as practical as the Pope telling Congress that they should have a Golden Rule approach to politics [see item 18852] . The need may be there, but ... cartoons notwithstanding.

Well that story imperfectly reflects actuality, gives us the more joy to make them sync.

Everything YOU write """"""" .  Huh? to the rest of your sentence.

Well, sigh, i am no different than anyone else, so my stories imperfectly reflect actuality, and i sure as fuck am happier when i can make them more synchronized to it.
Double Huh? then. Why did you assign my story to imperfectly reflect actuality then? (just an artful way of calling me a liar again?) Do you think that the Pope telling congress to approach the Golden Rule will do anything? Was the pope imperfectly reflecting only his own actuality?

OMG, you are misinterpreting my remarks, which interpenetration has come as quite a surprise to me.  I said nothing like that about your words ... rather i was speaking of the situation which obtains when anyone preaches ... which i take it was also your topic in 18852.

The pope can admonish congress to follow the golden rule, but his words will imperfectly reflect actuality ... i think he knows that, and i think congress knows that ... but should some congressman suddenly get a flash inspired by the pope and vote according to the golden rule, rather than his own personal interest, then surly there will be joy.

I guess the problem was in guessing to what "that" refered.   It did not refer to 18852, rather it refereed to the fact that "story imperfectly reflects reality".

LOL I must have switched over to the pragmatic, realville side. Preaching never works (imho) except to the already converted. Exact example says more than the wordc.f. Vatican news

i wonder if the Pope's preaching about shunning polarity inspired Speaker Boehner to resign from Congress. The timing is just too coincidental for it not to be related.

This story, which predated the Pope's "sermon" and his resignation by a couple of days, probably speaks more to his motivation ... but the timing ... OMG, the timing!
It has been brewing for a long time. For a couple of years Republicans have been telling the voters just give us the house, just give us the senate & then all the unconstitutional shit that Hussein has been doing like non-treaties with Iran, Obamacare with thousands of exemptions & help nods to unions, no budgets by Democrats & POTUS etc & (House) Baynor & (Senate) McConnel continue to kiss the magnificent ass of Obama (Hussein).  It was time to go. Trump helped by saying a bunch of stuff about the border that a lot were thinking but were well paid not to say.
Apparently the polls got clearer. Of course any politico worth his contributors can bury his exit in the pope's visit. Watch the revolving door that he exits. Hillary had the ultimate one.

seems you took this opportunity to got all that shit off your chest, asshole ... hmm i'm going to start calling you asshole ... i mean in the light of the Pope's renewal of awareness of the Golden Rule and all ... you know the rule ... the one that goes be just as hostile to others as they are hostile to you.

But that is quite the opposite of the Pope's message.  but maybe a man does profit from decaying another's story ... from decaying civilization's story? ... maybe even civilization itself ... certainly decaying and mocking  cooperation!  For then he can glory to be free in himself ... a sovereign egoo with direct awareness of his own holy asshole!

Then i start to figure out just why so many republicans are so very hostile to this Pope ...
who says things like ... "We know that in the attempt to be freed of the enemy without, we can be tempted to feed the enemy within. To imitate the hatred and violence of tyrants and murderers is the best way to take their place"
 ...
"Politics is, instead, an expression of our compelling need to live as one, in order to build as one the greatest common good: that of a community which sacrifices particular interests in order to share, in justice and peace, its goods, its interests, its social life"
... and it becomes clear.  Republicans don't even believe in the common good of a community.     Civilization a whole is not even something they recognize ... it's "common good" only a fluff term ... it has no be-ing that they recognize or respect.  The have no  respect for the being that we create with our loving cooperation?

Do you? ... sometimes i do wonder

I guess this is one reason I don’t like the About: title

As with most other articles here with About: titles, they have little or often nothing to do with the article referenced. They virtually never praise the article or even use it constructively. I look and look and it makes no sense. They are usually “about ego” and sometimes about “another member”. Maybe if it said Excuse: at the top instead of About it would make more sense. The article referenced is the excuse for the ego to come and diatribe.
Without getting into the content of this article, the titles & about titles resemble the journalism of the day where a headline & byline might say one thing & the contents say something else.  Hopefully here we can rectify such without curating. smug [see also: group UnhackTheBrain] for my thoughts on journalism etc. from the beginning days & even from a wiki predating fbi.
