Chimera - history

History of the use of word chimera here at fbi is simple:

bozo opined that Republicans disliked the pope or something silly about republicans - now lost probably deleted
mark replied that it was not my responsibility to disabuse bozo of his chimera regarding the topic - nice word implying your opinions about repblicans was a delusion
my usage is bolded here (wikipedia): "The term chimera has come to describe any mythical or fictional animal with parts taken from various animals, or to describe anything composed of very disparate parts, or perceived as wildly imaginative, implausible, or dazzling.

Mostly that is in the opinion of Democrats & other liberals & their pundocratical fellow travelers in the M$M.

Not being a Roman Catholic I don't believe in the infallibility of the pope at all, & for that matter ayatollahs & POTUSes. Popes have been mucking with politics & regimes for millennia. (Absolute power corrupting absolutely.) I think it is POTUS who is trying to make an ally of the Pope for his final agenda. Why they want to flood the country with immigrants when there are 95 million people in the country unemployed just doesn't make any sense. Why not do something with & for them in their own countries?. Elsewhere I have spoken of the Pope's peronista leanings - which may sound good in theory but ends up always being Robin Hood in just another disguise.

To complete the history of usage here at fbi ...

inspired by your usage, i used "genetic chimera" to point to something different in a comment and then I subsequently moved that to 18862 because i felt that it was significant enough to have its own node in my blog.

Now there is a degree to which the contexts were related ... yet still my usage of "chimera" was inadvertently pointing to a totally different thing than was yours.

Is that, perhaps confusing switch, what has created this tempest?

well at least a red herring, i agree.

incidentally, after finding the exact place where "chamera" entered this conversation, now i am thinking that you were pointing to the same kind of thing i was: a image of some outside thing in a mind constructed by the owner of the mind. In this particular case it was the negative image that democrats hold in their minds of republicans feelings about the pope. Here I need to use the the grand generalizations, "democrat/republican", because generating a more accurate one would take too many words.

I use the punditocracy & partisan words myself.
