Sharing doesn't require pride or avoid pride.  Pride in the matter is irrelevant.  Who is goodreads?

goodreads (goodreads.com) it is the database that you share with when you click share from your Kindle.  for example you can access mine at the about link above.  i don't think you even need to be logged in to the site.  it is social media sharing anchored in what you read on your kindle.

sui sponte ... my hook above was a wave reference to "Aint Too Proud To Beg" ... was not to be interperted as an assertion of my ontology.

I should probably take most of your postings as sui sponte!
... well of course you can ... there is however a story ... mostly unwritten ... mostly unpublished ... mostly otherness to you.   Do you read a novel that way?  Is it enjoyable that way?
When I go for reading a novel, I know it is a novel first. When I go for reading the news I know it is only have novel.  When I go for reading Facebook & blogs I know it mostly  bs.
(your mileage, as often, may vary)

... but they are all just stories ... even like the story of your life that you tell and defend yourself.

Yep so you are saying everything is bull shit?

well the "bull shit" part of your question is  your story of my story ... Shirley, don't you know that?

But to answer your question, no i make no such judgement.  Representing things is what we humans do ... and we do it well ... some say, as do I, that it is the very cause that we create civilization with our lives ... unlike slime mold.
Well, really you are always talking about yourself & making up your stories about what is happening.  Others may or not be doing the same but you wouldn't know - would you

Well yes i am making up stories about what is happening ... no doubt about it.

In this case here, the one about "humans representing things cause  civilization"  my well be a whopper .

But were i to believe the current narrative on the matter ... said over and over from different angeles, again and again  in BofNK ... then your story that "Others may or not be doing the same" (ie making up stories of what is happening) smacks just of unsubstantiated hostility.

Or that your birdie WE mind reading tends to greater & greater SHIT over time.
Well, well, well ...  i would call it "resolution" not "SHIT" ... but yes it does build up and feeds on itself ... especially the "WE" part where people agree to cooperate and enhance their own private languages and ontologies with the stories and representations that circulate publicly in the culture.

I have an old Kindle fire - can't see where to share it. It is registered to T anyway.

i find it hard to believe that even an old kindle would not have these share buttons ... this has been around for a long time.   They also appear when selecting text.   one of the best mechanism available for annotating digital era text socially.

incidentally my kindle is also registered to denise's account, yet you see what i want to share of my reading under seth-russell.
Apparently I can only share on facebook or twitter

actually i doubt that ... just unclick both facebook and twitter ... then your share will go exclusively to the goodreads account in your settings.

it is interesting to note that the more a person holds to their own private stories the more like "shit" others will seem.   for example: if you believe you are sitting stationary in a car, and it looks like the car beside you is backing up, your mind will at first think it SHIT that your own car is moving forward.   i think these ideas about relative literalism can be, and my already have been,  proven with a cog-sci experiments.

resolution?
enhance lies with other people's lies - sounds like politics!

well me, i try not to enhance lies ... thanks for calling that to my attention.

We call a representation a higher "resolution" when it better models what actually happens.  As opposed to calling it "SHIT" when it does not.

Nice anectote, but the phenomen a has nothing to do with belief!

Quite a leap of faith that.
In my book, the closer belief matches phenomena the better

Thinking otherwise would render my mind irrelevant ... a joke ... an illusion ... a farce.  It would render civilization a farce ... and of life itself,  it would say i know nothing ... yet i live ... and of that i am certain.

Nope, not my story .

Relativism was always your favorite "sin" It is shit IMHO (which is neither) when the metaphor, simile or meme does not fit.  Enjoy the Egueue.

Well, were i to ignore relativism (as apparently do you) my thoughts would simply not match what i observe happening.  So yes i plead guilty to noticing this dynamic and believing in its story.

Metaphors, (a different topic), start out by matching a story to part of a reality.  It is certainly wise to know they are only metaphors, contrived for the sake of  communication, and are usually worthless in predicting events.

Matching your belief to an irrelevant phenomena is similar to thinking to superstitions.

... true, when that is the situation that obtains.  Which is why practical thinking trains people to match belief to relevant phenomena.

You don't ignore metaphors or analogies either. Your example that prompted this was the cars moving.  It was not about whatever it was really about.

well i didn't say you ignored analogies ... i said you apparently ignore relativism.  Nor do i ignore analogies myself,  rather i use them to communicate.

and i said that metaphors are a different topic from relativism ... i personally don't know of any connection in this context ... except that you mixed them in the same sentence.
