Actually the behavior still exists - whether it is a bug is your call. Navigation from the link in the about puts you in a group & then using the arrows you can continue completely out of the group where you followed the link to
Nope it is not a bug.  The about url of 217 does not go to a legitimate url.  That is the old style of permalinks, which put permalinks inside groups, rather than as individual items just as it were in the river.  However even though the navigation from that item is correct, it goes to the next item in the river 218, or the previous item in the irver 217.
