Bugs

Typed in “Master Bug LIst” in the search & the heading changed & got rid of the search stuff.
Mainly I wanted to note that when I put a link on a particular group of words I can’t end the underlining except with an icon but sometimes
it continues on with the next line
or even the next one

wtf
it is an old bug

dragging & dropping an icon into the tags box is interesting see tags

What is an anchor for ? – note icon disappears when saved.
link anchors are names put in a page that a hyperlink can address … that is the way people link deep into a specific place on a page.

Eiammyme says
It happens mostly when I want to hyperlink immediately so I don’t forget what I wanted to link         !

It’s nice you are discovering what you want things to be like.
I can only say so many times that I have not been working on search. We know it hardly works. So don’t test it and report bugs. That’s just noise.

However, please do go to the FBI group and create a feature list of what you would like Search to work like. How do you want it to look and feel and report and what kinds of safeguards do you want. Then when I do work on it, I can make sure your features are working if they are possible. smiley

This was an obvious bug that showed up trying to find the bug list to log the link problem & ask the question about anchors.

Okay. Thanks for explaining.

My request is still heartfelt and imminent. I will be working on search soon. The more features and desires listed in FBI group when I do the better it will be for everyone. I probably wont’ work on it again for a long time. Thanks!

IT HAS BEEN AROUND FOR YEARS …
I can get around it, but not nicely. Start a sentence & then hyperlink to the last word & then try to resume the sentence with a blank … causes the problem every time.
i think i kow what you mean with this        like here i cannot end the bloody hyperlink

i think that happens in just about every edito i have used … gmail ? … prolly so.   wha i do is put something on the end and never try to build the link all the way to the end becaue i know i will have that problem.

I think I need to ignore this stuff to get work done. If it is a feature or  you want me to address, please put it in FBI group. Thanks!

Yeah, this mess of stuff is really hard to monitor. When I used to do QA I would use the delivered system to build my test bed & list of bugs & when they were finished. That usually yielded more bugs etc.  The bug items are getting to long to figure out.
yes … things grow unwieldly with rapid interactions … especially if you are not focusing on it when it is happening.   nathan is doing a whole lot to make it much much better than it was.   did you see the recent stuff where he collapses comments automatically when they get too long.

Yep, it confused me I thought I had lost a comment of mine.
Yea Mark. That’s how we did testing at Microsoft too. For the record, this system here at dev is in alpha development. It has not been officially turned over to testing department yet. There are live changes happening every few minutes. Keeping track of well known bugs in the FBI bugs post is still a good idea, but trying to make a test bed at this point would be ludicrous.

Wasn't calling for a test bed. More like a numbered list of bugs & features & requests either tied together by tags or an item with a numbered list in it. My interest is that the new version (FBI-II??) or whatever not lose it's current functionality nor it's database since I have a 10 year energy investment in it. It should not corrupt what has gone before it nor be more buggy & confusing to use for the normal person. When I sign on to the development server I have to resignon to my groups in order to do something useful . Thats why when I find a bug it is usually not in the group fbi .  My original interest was in that it should work on most Internet browsers. I can stay away if it is in heavy flux.

i think everything you describe is what we are truly doing.  So it will be corss broswer ... even mobile ... and look and feel much better ... even the old stuff.   thing is switching back and forth now in alpa dev might cause some strange things to happen ... especially a new item or comment thread that must suddenly be interperted in the old logic ... lord knows what it will look like.   so maybe best to stick with the new dev server for now.   The only thing that makes a big difference is that you can only upload images in the old server ... but i have uploaded there and come over here to revise and finish.   that, and maybe some icons are missing.
Guys. Why don’t you just open an incognito window in chrome, or a private window in Firefox, and have that window singed in to “group fbi”? Then you can bop back and forth all you want. You can only have one each this way because incognito windows share cookies with each other, but not main. But it is a great way to be logged in two places at once and is how I do all my repetitive testing. All I have to do is close my incognito window and open a new one to start out totally fresh for another test.
