The great session chase

For some reason Seth’s FireFox would not always delete a cookie. It was keeping old session cookies, both kinds, around and making all the data confused.

I eventually found out that I could always set a cookie to an empty string … so now the system will both try and delete a cookie and set it to an empty string when a session changes for any reason. This seems to be working in Seth’s FF and Chrome now.

We are fully running on Sessions, not old style cookies now. All seems to be working fine on my computer and Seth’s computer. Hopefully Mark’s will be the same (after perhaps an initial re-login).

samo-samo on Chrome. Works ok so far on FF.
If you want to invite me through then I can take a look at your chrome. I just spent 4 hrs working on Seth’s and don’t have any more thoughts without seeing exactly what you got there.

Loosing identity on iPad trying to post and/or upload images
Try clearing cookie. Sometimes they just don’t seem to clear the old data. But once it’s fresh it has always worked so far.

IE11 works sort of (hangs) but isssues a stop long-running script error message before giving me the page I asked for.

Was it the New Years post? If so, it has 301 bouncing tiggers on it and does take a while to load. The button got stuck last night.
mark@fbi 2016-01-01 16:30:56 [item 19476#40608]
Why in one browser & not on all? – I never saw all 301.
nathan@fbi 2016-01-01 16:33:13 [item 19476#40610]
Because I.E, even 11, benchmark about 10,000 times slower on some javascript than any other browser. IE sucks.
Mainly javascript that is doing a lot of page reconstruction, which I do a lot of using jQuery. Someday can reduce that … but it’s how it ended up. No prob for real browsers though.

I have no idea how that happens or what to do. I don't have any special software. The Geeksquad had some software where they could control my PC remotely but that was several opsys changes since then.
Simply go to and follow the extremely simple instructions and pass me the code and I’ll connect. Make sure to give me control of the mouse. It’s free.

nathan@fbi 2016-01-01 16:39:05 [item 19476#40616]
Don’t know how to do that without writing a special custom query for the SQL control panel. Not wanting to do that. Besides, they display on other browsers, even my phone. Just takes about 8 seconds for the page to load.

yea, me too. I couldn’t stop laughing last night, just after midnight, when it happened and I realized that there were 301 bouncing tiggers bouncing on the new years post. Kind of fitting!

One might ask why all the concettration on getting rid of cookies - which apparently work - for this grand chase? What new & wonderful features show up if the puzzle gets solved?
I wrote all about that in a post somewhere yesterday.

Are you sure you cleared all your cookies in Chrome? That really should fix any possible problem.

You have “for the past hour” selected. That is most likely not good enough. You should select a week, or at least back to the day we had FBI live up front and off dev.
mark 2016-01-01 17:24:22 [item 19476#40631]
Well, I cleared them from “the beginning of time” & it seemed to work. (so far) on chrome.  Will have to try it on IE14 yes

Okay. I am nowhere near an IE browse right now. I will be at Katrina’s next week. She will have one.

Apparently Windows 10 has 2 versions of the browser IE11 (which you have to download) & something called Microsoft Edge preinstalled with W10 – both versions have the same problem.
nathan@fbi 2016-01-01 17:59:08 [item 19476#40640]
yea. Edge is supposed to be the first REAL browser Microsoft has made. The first one to comply with W3C standards instead of MS-BULLY standards. We’ll see

Only problem is they don’t support Java.
nathan@fbi 2016-01-01 18:11:11 [item 19476#40642]
Good thing that IMHO.  Don’t need browsers supporting a zillion different languages and protocols … just makes them slow and cumbersome and hard to manage the code. Everything you ever wanted to do can now be done with beautful Javascript and HTML5. Nothing else needed.
mark 2016-01-01 18:14:07 [item 19476#40644]
Well my favorite software for projective geometry is written in java: Here are a few sample things to click on & see how they run for you.

Okay cool. Took a quick look. Almost any language, especially Java, can be ported directly to JavaScript and all the stuff I saw in your examples is available using JavaScript and HTML5 canvases. I’ve ported PHP and even C# to javascript, runs great.

So I have an HTML file export from Cinderella with a very cool demonstration of cross-ratio.

It doesn’t paste well here – so how would it get converted to something that works without java?

nathan@fbi 2016-01-01 18:32:34 [item 19476#40650]
I’m not sure I know the best way. I would just post the details of that question on and you will likely get lots of good answers from people on the leading edge.
mark 2016-01-01 18:43:33 [item 19476#40651]
Well it is not HTML or script it is written in Java a programming language with Java libraries – not likely to happen – java has it’s own virtual machine & bytecode – can’t just change some script & have it run under Python byte code. (IMHO) pondering
Can, more often than not … code is just code. All you gotta do is transform the logic to another code system. Most of that is done automagically these days by cross compilers … and Java and JavaScript are real close, little to translate.

For some strange reason it appears they are working – although slowly.  I took a choy@choy home page & pasted it in the IE browsers & it blinked a second & then came up without the problems.  Seems to be running since. I wonder why?pondering
nathan@fbi 2016-01-01 18:14:42 [item 19476#40645]
I can tell you why … it’s always the same reason … the details are only how it’s mirrored in your verse. The real reason is, you cleared your energy on the subject. That will always fix anything, no matter what. Focus wheels and grids allow you to directly fix absolutely anything by clearing your energy on the subject.

I often forget that myself though … and sometimes take the long way. cool
mark 2016-01-01 19:05:53 [item 19476#40656]
Yep,, off & on it seems to slow down not quite dead slow as before with the long running script. I would blame it on the fastblogit server, but it doesn’t happen in all my other browsers. This one is the Edge.
It is well known that IE flavors are ridiculously slow doing css selector lookups … but most likely there are more problems than just that. Will look when I have access to one.
