Bug: comments being compressed wrong

comments are being compressed wrong … the last comment that a person is responding to should alwasy show and never be collapsed ever.  perhaps collapse above that, or from the top down just to that comment, but not that comment.  to understand what the person said, you must be able to read directly the last thing they were responding to.
