  1. links inside & outside of itself
  2. tags - - think of a tag as word to remember something by
  3. anonymous and public authors
  4. easily accessable commenting on all postings
  5. public and private items (posts)
  6. Rich Text Editing (RTE)
  7. Emoticons
These are pretty good overall catagories.

  • I do think the about page should be targeted to where we will be after the fold.

  • 1 is about wiki references.  i would keep it just about wiki references and include a reference to an appropriate tag or title room.
  • 2 is real big - the folksonomy of our site is gonna be a big draw.  why have your blog separate from your bookmarking, that separation is not necessary.  thing is that del.icio.us has become a internet wide resource, and fastblogit is in not way that, and it is just a dream of ours that it will ever be that.  What we can do is to tightly integrate fastblogit with del.icio.us and the other major folsonomy sites like flickr and technocrati.
  • 4 ok .. needs work
  • 5 good
  • 6 and 7 i would combine: Rich text editing with emotocons.
I think we are on our way

I'm talking mostly about newbies to fastblogit.  I don't want to call this a wiki. It has some wiki-like functionality, just like it has some chat-like functionality.

There is something I derived from my seminar days called the big-dipper effect.  That is before you know where and what the big dipper is in the heavens you see all the stars & their magnificence.  After someone points to a particular set of stars as being the "big dipper" you will always see the Big Dipper & miss most of the rest & must always see it there !
IMHO we shouldn't big-dipper this as a wiki or a chat room.

While initial inspection might think the introductory sentence vain & glorious, I think it sets the tone and context by a declarative invocation. I will add a context phrase to keep it within the internet.
ok

ok, but this top list could be more like a table of contents to the whole group about.  and we would have a page particular to wiki references.

don't forget that we also have the group header to compose.  so when someone clicks "about" in the tool bar they will see the header first and under that this first page.  hopefully they will be interested enough to click deeper into more detailed description items.

Wiki references and tagging are the 2 most difficult to understand & get across to the newbie. This page or item is for the newbie. I want to get the conceptual ideas out there first before going to the complex. The complex ideas may be in a glossary or in the faq area. This is the introduction to the whole thing. It needs crisp ideas and a relative scarcity of marketing spin.  There will be other comparison sections & stuff to bring out all the features. That's why I used the term post as well as item. Once a newbie ceases to be one we can load him up with crisp & exact terminology. (That said, I would transform the term wiki references into a better term yet TBD)
how can we call this a wiki and be afraid to refer to wiki references .  i don't think this page is just for a internet newbe.  at least not initially.   this page is also targeted to someone like weaverluke who is quite knowledgeable about blogs and wiki and wants to see where we fit in.

As immediate as NOW we are having a chat, but it is much more an immediate & hierarchically organized chat or a hyper-chat. That is a distinction I would like to get across.

The must know that I put the list up there for my own assistance in getting something goint there for the about button. I claim no completeness & certainly may get rid of the bullets there entirely.

Maybe we need about features to track a crisp set of the names of the features to be covered.
We are also beginning to make the and the about compete for content

well as we discussed when we created it, the about is a controlled presentation.  but other than that i dont see any prob content being duplicated between faq, fastblogit and group about. ... where does it hurt?

Incidentally i have been tagging features into new features for quite some time now.  should be plenty of content there.
