Throw out the dictionary & the tower of Babel is not far behind. Throw out the dictionary & you can lie about whatever you said before. Throw out the dictionary & meaning has no meaning (zen thingy anyway). Try looking up the “meaning of life” in the dictionary .   ponderinglaughinglaughinglaughing …. tuit rolling down the road

LOL … well I think that well says what you are afraid of anyway. The opposite is actually true. It is the attempt to tie past and present together and stake it out as the same in everyone’s verse that becomes what the tower of Babble represents. Real communication rises to the surface when people let go of all that baggage. When people are true, there is no blue. ← golden rule in that btw

i don’t think the dictionary tells us what words mean … not really … but sometimes it does give a hint.  A word means what it is used to mean.  Usage is King … contemporary usage … contemporary usage in a context …. er, contemporary usage in a context by a specific person.
It has been so, quite true, but I rell a vatch!

The dictionary is an evolutionary walled garden with history. The senses of speech & language & hearing (or brail) are all part of communicating. Thing is, if you folks mutate the meanings of language fast enough the meaning of your communication will be limited only to the response you get which might be people go somewhere else to talk to more interesting people with less tendencies to the rwg, insults (however clever ← Lucifer), mind-reading & talking about eachother’s Egos & egoo.. coolsmug

“The dictionary is an evolutionary walled garden with history.”

Exactly! Pink Floyd says it best.
We don’t need no education, we don’t need no thought control …

We don’t need more bricks in these walls. Time to take them down.

well nobody likes to hear incessant RWG and that will certainly turn off people coming here to think.

i don’t get that people here are “mutating the meaning of language” … me, i am just trying to use it to represent my thought as honestly as i possibly can.
