If you get enough googles going in a row it sounds like a toilet flushing.

Tell that to Copernic, and a few of the other search engine companies who are now bit-players in the market. Remember when everything was centralized on mainframes? That's what you now have in google's server farms. And then there is M$.
But isn't that just evolution ?   Are we to fear better solutions to our problems just because some companies who were proffering inferior solutions went out of business?  Survinal of the fittest is not a game for a Polyana.

Another interesting factoid is that you can find items relating to Google just by typing in the word goo in the live search box. Zen is alive ! Urrnnnt..goo y'all

I was gonna say these look like items, because they have title, description, and tags, but then i see ...

Well there are lots of people who have a fear of Google sucking in the world's data and controling it.  I have a little tingel of that fear in the crevices of my mind too.  But Google is showing us the advantages of centralized information ... and there are some serious advantages.  Think back to the time where there was not just one search engine that dominated the web ... searching is a lot better now.

There is another, diametrically opposed, method of storing and retrieving data .. and that is p2p... where data flows and is not located in one server network under control of one entity.  Google must fear that, for if it becomes more effective than their centralized servers for finding stuff, then their whole business model goes kaput.

Joshua discussed this at the last group kabal specifically in relation to Google Base.  I think in the end there will not ever be a clear winner.  These will always be balancing poles in solutions bag of tricks.

History shows us the whole spectrum: evolution, involution, revolution, polarization, re-polarization - I'm not locked into any particular form of change. I'm just fascinated by those who thought networking was the answer to centralized databases (mainframe) are now going back to centralization (on server farms). This seems to place us at one of the cusps of computer technology mitosis . See animation.

I think boundaries are important. But which boundary to focus on is arbitrary ... the boundary of your dura,  or your family, or your geographic community, or your country, or your species.  Google has a a strong organizational boundary, they are very secretive, even though their data is available to all .. you either work there, or you are outside the boundary.  Me thinks even m$'s boundary is more porous, but i may be wrong.

In a sense we just went through a split .. now there are 2 domains, even if icybermind.net is just for test ... that domain has a boundary that now separates it from fastblogit.com.  I think our Leviathan model, should it gain traction, is well adapted to rapid evolution.  Though one wonders what kind of an organizational boundary we want to create.  A corporation ?

A very insightful article by Russell Beattie:  Application Aggregation Redux: Google Base

It is also interesting to note that he uploaded to google base with a tab delimited file.  I wonder if we should just go ahead and do that too ...

Imagine in your aggregator you could receive not only ?Posts? but forms as well. And calendaring info, and images, etc. And this stuff wasn?t just HTML formatted inside the Description tag, but actually processable by the aggregator itself. I guess then the Aggregator becomes a Universal Data Reading Client instead. On the other side of the equasion, I currently have a weblog which has only one way to create new items, a button called ?New Post? which has just two fields, Title and Content. Now what would happen if I added more ways to create items: ?New Calendar Item? and ?New Review? and ?New Classified?, etc. Each one of these extra types of posts would all have Title and Content, but they?d also have fields filled with additional arbitrary information which was included in the RSS also. If your aggregator didn?t understand these fields, they could just display them.
is something that we intend to do here with quad forms
