business considerations of the new spell checker

About: licensing the nanospell spellcheck for ckeditor

Hmmm …. ← my spelling too bad dude

so the three did free the deer and then went clunk and what about niche oh yes did it  wokred ← well couldn't fix my “wokred”  but like who could have guessed that

← not sure what our authors are suppose to do here pondering
ok i get it …

So when we go live maybe buy the (one time only?) $79 license to start with.  … see http://ckeditor-spellcheck.nanospell.com/license?discount=developer_max

Yep. If it works really good, then a site could get the licence.

SCYT can be the default and leave it up to the wizard and/or authors.

Never seen that yet. Must only come up sometimes.
I guess technically they want you to pay for it, unless you are a single user for your own stuff.
So we could make it an option with SCYT being the default. Then authors can switch to it on their own if they like and deal with the licence screen when it comes up in whatever way they personally want to.

i’m presuming that if we buy the $79 licence, then that choice will never pop up.  That certainly would my choice.   Perhaps we can game the possibility of authors paying for their own dictionaries or something … not sure how that would work.

Yep. Lots of possibilities … and no matter what, as long as it’s working so much better I’m using it personally!!! No matter what the wiz does.

i’m not sure how i set it to use a particular vocabulary like the scientific one you mentioned .

You don’t have access to that. It is part of the plugin configuration. If it were needed, I could float it up to user settings, but not right now.

don’t want to read all the back & forth on this subject – spell chicker works fine for most things – occasionally it doesn’t recognize real words & I can add them to the dictionary as it was before now –
FYI https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coulomb%27s_law  – does siri misspell stuff for you folks?

It’s a brand new spell checker Mark. As noted in today’s FBI posts.
It works different.
If you see any HTML characters appear, let me know.
That’s what’s important to get out of this. Thanks!

So it wasn’t broken & was OK & someone is going to pay for a new one … OK as long as it is not my dime.smug
no mark … no need to contribute at all … at fastblogit we just give  novices a free ride

The original spell checker had lots of problems. It made the cursor randomly jump around, was very slow and slowed down typing, and apparently was the source of watch disappearing because now I can type watch! Cool!

If you want to join the conversation, I agree that we shouldn’t need to pay for it on a personal bases and I think that simply allowing each author to turn it on or off on their own will get around paying.

You may have a different opinion, the licence is here: http://ckeditor-spellcheck.nanospell.com/license

well i wouldnt want that … try it out and let me know when to buy the licence.
nathan of group nathan 2016-03-04 08:03:09 [item 20298#47951]
Okay. When it will be needed, the licence would be for a specific website. So it would be something site wizards would do, not thinking.domain sellers … unless you want to get the $849 OEM redistribution licence that is.

But it seems to me that if individual authors are given the option to turn it on and off by themselves, then they can deal with it on their own as the licensee too.
seth of group seth 2016-03-04 08:12:31 [item 20298#47959]
okay.   kind of a fun thing we can game which effects our own cash flow smiley.   actually at fastblogit we can just leave the option pop up … i think the people invited here will be mature enought to understand.  at athink.club i might just buy a licence to as not to confuse the novices.  i don’t know about thinking.domains yet.  so all good yes
nathan of group nathan 2016-03-04 08:18:47 [item 20298#47964]
? The good thing is, that personal options need to be developed. I have planned for them in the quad table and they are being entrained into the live configuration automatically. So now we simply need to develop, both a personal profile, with something like a designated avatar image for the person, and a personal settings live page where they can control everything.

Could be a private page in their profile group with all their settings on it for instance.
seth of group seth 2016-03-04 08:27:03 [item 20298#47965]
a private thought in their “profile group” sounds good to me thumbs up rose.   … but it might even be a thought that has two views … private OR public … like this one of me at facebook

incidentally when are we going to coin a better term for “profile group” ?
nathan of group nathan 2016-03-04 08:29:16 [item 20298#47967]
Why? I loved hitting upon the name profile group. It’s perfect IMHO. Identity group and the other things we used to call it were clumsy. Profile group seems real slick!
well then “profile group”  it is !  smug gets the coin.

Hummm … yes the plugin for the live thought could function as a private door giving extra abilities to the sole owner … which can give the same effect … but a plugin cannot actually switch public or private on the fly since that functionality is part of the sql query that brings up the page to start off with long before the plugin is active.
