Note that the rising high watermarks may just reflect that i subscribed my feeds to several aggregators who are polling periodically.  I don't actually know for a fact that they reflect new visitors.

yes that is what i am quoting in the high watermarks above.  i just don't know how accurately that is determined. 
Well today is Dec 1, which means the stats show for just today as it is a monthly report.  One of the things that i find odd about the stats is that the section "Links from an external page" shows url http://meetrahul.blogspot.com/2005/11/tagging-in-googles-adopted-baby.html but there is no like to our site from there.  Rather i just linked to that page from a private item.  Now i have no doubt that the page showed up in the logs, so there is some kind of other web transaction going on.  Since after i put in the atom feeds and saw the visits start to steadly climb, yet no other activity happened, except my own postings to the blogosphere, it just makes me suspicious about how many real visitors are comming to fastblogit.

Actually high and low watermark for the month might be a better thing to track:

In any case these stats are to be taken just as indicators, and not as absolute values.  If you want absolute values, analize the visits db.
