Nathan’s oogey associations to sharing a reality …

They can resist, buck the current, and paddle upstream … and often do. There is a whole culture centered around doing this. They have created a whole belief system to support it too. In this belief system, they get indoctrinated into the idea that there is one reality everyone is sharing, and that they are uncovering it as they go along, and must agree on it in order to be considered sane and mentally fit. They are told this from a young age, often punished when they naturally vary from the idea as children, until it is so solid in them that they don’t doubt it no matter what the evidence otherwise.

It is very similar to how Muslim extremist children are indoctrinated to hate the United States, but much more wide spread and culturally accepted.

It feels great that “there is a reality that people share”! … and that feeling brings vast amazing experiences to many of us. I have no want or need to associate Nathan’s oogey stories to that feeling and those experiences.

I’ll bet I share more reality and possibly have gone deeper in the sharing that you have Seth. Why do you call something that is the same kind of sharing experience you are having “oogy”?

Sharing reality is wonderful, and is why most of us are here. Sharing has nothing to do with there being some one reality out there … nothing at all. One reality is just a story that fucks people up and makes it harder to share deep and joyful expereinces because everyone is always focused on there being limited resources, love, and time … which clearly, to anyone who has actually delved into it, there is not limited anything. It’s just something people think and therefore notice a lot. Nothing more. Anyone can think about the multiverse and notice the unlimitedness of all too. It’s just as easy.

please notice that i do not make the assumption that “there is one reality out there”. rather i have noticed, as have you, the each of us create what appears to be separate realities. but that does not prevent us from sharing parts of those realities.

the combination of those parts of our apparently separate realities which we actually do share, hang together quite well as a unified Gestalt for many of us. i have no need or want to associate any negative aspects whatsoever to that unified Gestalt. I claim negative stories associated to that unified gestalt will not help my life, nor the lives of those with whom i share.

Okay. All that seems fine. The thing that is important behind that is the idea that we are not uncovering a reality that exists, but rather we are collectively creating the reality that will exist, and become the sharing space, as we have sharing experiences.

The “Unified Gestalt” is like all such gestalts, it is created in some individual mind. The actual sharings themselves exist apart from those gestalts … but they too we create.

me i try to anchro my beliefs in the sharings themselves and not in the unified gestalt … but shucks, i am human, and believing in gestalst is what we do … and we do it almost too well.

Noticing things is not rwg in my experience. Noticing things is noticing things. Reacting to things noticed negatively because you don’t feel your reality experience is getting validated is what rwg is. Rwg can be one way, if only one has that feeling, or two way if both have it.

Then too, shifting context around & munging some together until you get to the feeling (qualia) “I’m right & that’s that” or leaving & finding some context in an alternate universe not available somewhere else except to those who agree with you … is quite bizarre

Yes Mark. The scientific method is a means to synchronize realities, that’s all. It matches well with the universe model so it is easily used by people believing they are uncovering a universe instead of creating a verse. There are many ways for information to be created … the scientific method is not the only one … just a popular one in these here parts for the last epoch, which is waning. National Geographic had an excellent article on “The war on science” last summer if you want a more popular take on it.

Bizarre is always a good indicator that you are now actually “doing something different”.

As Bandler says, the problem with people is that they keep doing the same thing and expecting different results. Noticing something is bizarre is a good indicator you actually succeeded in doing something different.

Even though it was born from a different direction, the words fit well with the romantic poets out of time who talk about things like “life being like a song you create and then sing”.

Since the root word “verse” is also commonly used to be a part of a song, or poem.
