Foil & Liber Legis

to be elaborated on later.  I think GW says in ZZ that he uses LL like a foil.  I usually think of that word meaning an air foil such as makes an airplane fly.  There is however a better definition in etymology online:
The sense of "one who enhances another by contrast" (1580s) is from the practice of backing a gem with metal foil to make it shine more brilliantly.
