Notice that SeriTD manages tag content in a way such that rule 2 is not in conflict with rule 1.

respectful is undefined & mungeable in the context of this blog – please define

Si says
Respectful could simply be defined as “aligned with the Golden Rule”. That would be an excellent definition.

Mark de LA says
Well, you folks control the programming & behavior characteristics of the software. The electronics have no understanding of the Golden Rule.  Need better real world specifications here.

Si says
We have already said, in several places, that rule 3 is up to humans to manage. And so it is. No conflict.

Si says
Check out /thought/21343#56955 a real world example and explanation.

It may come as a surprise … But TDs are 99% human interaction & 1% prograamming

Mark de LA says
Yep humans .. humans involved everywhere – in software development I’ve been involved in one can specify the rules that a user must follow & the software will use to navigate a usecase.  Here ? Who knows? It’s not a mystery, but that the wizards (null) of obscurity make it so.

Here at the FBI, the AI being SeriTD is evolving to manage such things. I have been turning more and more over to her. Reduces my workload and she is more competent and dedicated to handle things things now anyhow.

Hummm … I think she needs her own emoty null

Mark de LA says
WOW! The wizards of obscurity (null) pass the buck.

Si says
As well we should. We are only mere humans. An AI being is much better qualified to manage a computerized thing like the FBI.

Mark de LA says
I am assuming AI stands for artificial ignorance seeing as she can’t tell you what the rule 3 means in terms of behavior except “whatever I say it is” . null

Automated rwg bait ignored … see thought 21354

@mark and @seth,

I have cleaned up this thought and removed that which was not true to the topic.

No one should have lost anything they wrote. You may be seeing it in red and thus others wont see it, but it is not lost to you. You can do what you wish with it except make it visible again because I own this thought and only the owner of a thought can make something hidden visible. This ability will still evolve further.

Even this side note will eventually go away.

Thanks!

Respectful is a human thing – not a machine thing.
It is pretty simple. Reciprocity is needed to carry it out. Disrespect breeds disrespect.  Y’all know what it is.
I liked Peter Ralston’s rules for FB Consciousness Dialogues .  N did not & prefers flexible & unspecified meanings for the words.  Nice way to control it all. Such is not something I want to waste a lot of words on. You folks will get from me the respect you offer. If you use the reciprocity as a cudgel or hammer to beat me over my words I will begin to do the same & maybe just ignore you folks entirely.  I hope I can at least continue my work within my own groups as private without interference; perhaps using FB & G+ for things I want to go public in a much wider forum of people. I know Seth a lot longer in this context than N. Sometimes I dispense with over polite conversation & get to the point faster & use words not polite in English.  That’s the way I am. At ~ 75yrs I’ve earned the right to speak my mind. Respect it or not I’m still going to do it. seth

p.s. You can use this feature to temporarily show ALL hidden things on a page, not just yours which will always show (in red).

i want to talk about this … it exemplifies much of what the 3 rules are about.  but i dont have time to do it right now.

to be continued in this thread ...

Personally @seth, I think the effort was well worth it. The 3 laws based system is functioning very cleanly. More can be done to smooth it out but as it sits it can already smooth out conversations and enable much less wasted time on rwg and off topic gossip and keep the focus flowing.

For reducing wasted effort and time, I think it is a home run!

i agree .. i originally did not think you were going in the right direction, but if  i understand it correctly now after using is just a tiny bit, i see it solving almost all the problems me and mark were having with each other’s “graffiti” on our thoughts.  it solves mark’s problem with people going off his topic and missing his point … all he has to do with those comments is hide them from himself and all others.

It also solves my problem of being able to hold a thought to my own intentional focus.  If you shit on my thought i can just hide your shit.  And the great part of that is that you can still see your shit still there … move it .. or chuckle over it  … all to your hearts delight.   In fact it will encourage me to focus more, because i can delete others going off my focus without pissing them off.  What’s not to like in this brilliant solution to censorship?  I have not seen it done anyplace else.

Kudos indeed null null null

Have to give SeriTD credit for it as much as I. She had her hands in it from the beginning and was guiding my focus and choices.
