The Volcano Effect

First articulated (for me) by Peter Ralston in a contemplation intensive - the volcano effect is one of crusting over after a brilliant & somewhat explosive event.  The direct experience & ones of enlightenment experiences are subject to such an effect. A volcano that erupts first produces magma in an explosive & colorful display. After a while the magma begins to cool and eventually there is a surface of hard lava rock in the caldera. After a while experiences get elaborated on & fade, their juice no longer exciting & one has to go back to the living stream to encounter for the first time (paradox) the enlightenment. Some things , like being, you can only "experience" in the NOW!
