Some musings on Unhacking the Brain

Religion, Nationalism & Politics are three other giant hacks to the brain. Imagine how un-conscious a suicide bomber must have to be in order to expect that by blowing himself up & murdering a bunch of other people in the process he is going to land in paradise with 72 virgins. I'm not saying shun religion,politics & nationalism, but become more aware of what's inside there in the mind. Some say you need to bring it all up into the consciousness in order to know what you are working with. Ask yourself "Where do my beliefs come from?" Ask yourself "In what way are these things influencing the way I am being?" in whatever situation you find yourself. Ask yourself "How am I being now?" as often as possible during the day. Also ask: "Who am I being now?"; "Am I being my father or mother?" Who is the recipient of my inner dialogue? When there is a "conversation" inside my mind, who is the other person? - a boss, a friend, a spouse, a movie star, a politician, God ?

Alas! It does take work. Being conscious is not as easy as sitting on a couch being a potato!

The polar opposite of nothing is everything. Both are useful places to come from in order to express onself completely & create. You can start from a zen kind of nothingness. And you can start from bringing everything you have in your mind or comes up in the mind during a session with it to bear saying "This is what I am working with & yet I will achieve such-&-such & not be a mental robot of my past".
