Why is this news ??

This is a news article that popped up this weekend. If I said "Belafonte is an extreme leftwing asshole." nobody would listen. The same should go for Belafonte's senile ravings for attention. Please, Harry go back to reminiscences of the days of Deo, Deo!. I single out this article as typical of the media trying to get attention. The cases are too numerous to quote them all. Some famous or not so famous person in Hollywood or former public life (ex CIA, govt.) or business deems themself an expert on the way things should be and makes an outrageous statement (way outside their expertise) for the lapdogs of the press to suck up!
Only from a sense of perversion is a lie such as this, even said by a famous person, to be called news. Remember "Reliability, Security, Speed" is a good set of priorities for reporters to consider when writing an article. This one violates truth & reliability. If you quote a liar is that news ? Is the telling of a lie "in quotes" OK for a reporter to do? If so then consider that I heard someone in the bathroom this morning say "All readers of this item have been proven to be the spawn of hogs who were fucked by jackasses!"

(It's true, I really did hear that in the bathroom this AM!)
It is more likely the truth that the headlines are what the reporters, headline writers, editors & publishers want to say (lie or not)!

Belafonte Says Bush Is 'Greatest Terrorist in the World,' Praises Venezuelan Dictator

I don't know if Belafonte said that, and i I would not call Bush a Terrorist myself. But Bush has done much to increase Terrorism in the world. By invading Iraq, he has created the soil for Terrorism to flourish in a country where there was none. Sometimes when you fight something you make it worse. Bush's tactics against terrorism are like whaling a stick at every hornet's nest you encounter. That is not the best way not to get stung.

Yes, I'm quite aware of your left-wing views! The point of the article is that the media is only too willing to publish the most outrageous quotes just to pander to certain groups, the most popular of which are "Bush Bashers". Maybe next 9-11 will happen in your neck of the woods. The only way to convince a terrorist to mend his/her ways is to kill him/her wherever he/she is!
