SemNews - Semantic News Framework

SemNews is a prototype application being developed by UMBC Ph.D. student Akshay Java that uses a sophisticated text understanding system to interpret summaries of news stories, publishes the results on the semantic web and provides browsing and query services over them.
Apparently the site will produce an xml file and a rdf file and will show a diagram if you click on "view" ... looks like this ...

SemNews monitors different RSS News Sources and provides a structured representation of the meaning of the news. The meaning is extracted using OntoSem, a Natural Language Processing system that uses a constructed world model or an Ontology.
The extracted meaning from the RSS descriptions of the news articles are then converted into Semantic Web representation such as RDF. This is also stored in a Redland Triple store and lets users perform semantic queries over the documents. This enables them to search for information that would otherwise not be easy to find using simple keyword based search. It also makes available important and live new related automatically extracted meta-data and semantics to agents by publishing it in RDF.

The persons, places, and things in the stories are apprently extracted into the RDF and other sturectures in the OWL db. But i can't find where the OWL logical struecture are traceble back to the descriptive text in the story. For example wht is MOTION-EVENT-713 in the first story url http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/4554160.stm ?

me i can't wait till Siri and Google and Echo understand me better ... right now they are just sooo stupid. Then too they just seem to understand (or not) just one single message ... they are not any good at all with followup dialogue. that would seem to be an obvious advancement, but it would require episodic memory ... apparently not something the powers that be deem being something to invest in.
