About: Forum Syllabus

It is fascinating that they finally have a website and a syllabus for The Forum.  I did the Forum in 1988 without either. Out of it comes the conversation & expression begun in group UnhackTheBrain as well as my poetic declaration to be in a life expressed in the header of my group mark. 

From this reading of it I single out the following item as the most powerful one I experienced personally:

III. Language as an Access to Power

Language is commonly thought of as a bridge to the world. Even the way we learn language implies that first there is a world. Then, in order to connect and deal with that world, we learn language. We seldom, if ever, consider that language may in fact be what brings that world into being.
 
In this session, we explore a new view of language that alters the very nature of what is possible. Language comes to be seen as a creative act. Listening and speaking ? actions we would normally see as commonplace ? take on new dimensions and unexpected power. They become instruments of creation.

This dovetails nicely with folksonomy & blogging in the overall context of "Life as a Conversation"

Language does create a subjective world … and an objective one of signs that are shared.  It stands on both sides of the divide.  Poetry and passionate representations are deep into the subjective … as they are projected into shared signs they get interpreted … then did spirit travel acorss the void … or just static and random associations in different universes.  Me thinks depends on what actually happened.
