Oh goodie ...i learn a new kind of web pestulance every day .... now it's "referer spam". Hit a site just so that you can get in your log because some of us publish that kind of stuff. Eventually i will need to put in some robots.txt and take the motive away

. I think guest-3411 is a case in point.

That not exactly the same thing. That is more like google splogs. Referer spam is where a site will hit you with their site in the referer, but you go to that site and there is no reference to you. I have seen a lot of that in Chat Who's Here. You see that also when you go to the links from external pages in our stats. <crschmidt> from in chat above pointed to an example here.

guest-3498 is a case in point, he came from http://www.1placeloan.com/credit_cards.php to the /river/ but you can't get here from there. So how did he do it, he did it with a bot.

Our biggest vunerablity is Chat Who's Here. All you got to do to get google juice is to hit that page from your spam site. I think if i exclude bots from /user/ that would take away the motive; but i am not sure that taking away the motive is sufficient.
