Seth seems to have formed a new context of a world where truth does not exist or something like that. The discussion began somewhere else (follow the about link). I think it is more appropriately a subject for this group philosophy .

The relationship between discourse and reality does vary with context and who and what is in that context.

Me thinks that you still think that "logos" (as you put it) is something other than just a pattern of behavior that has evolved in the last 3 millineum ... and, me thinks, you cannot imagine that it can be done differently.

... CFR left the question of truth & (epistemology) mostly to things outside of formal logic & Barbara Cubed. To which I replied GIGO! There is nothing wrong with logic as a process which is a metamorphosis of your attention from one description of what is to another as long as you and your audience agree on what's there (context & otherwise)in the first place. That homo sapiens have an aptitude for words is not something that can be denied. Can you distinguish between an "aptitude for words" and "a sense for language" ?

It is like a sense for sight - hard to distinguish if you don't have it. I can only say that there is a "soul component" which is more than electronic activity in a particular part of the brain.

Well i think i have an aptidue for language, and i have no idea how waving at a fabeled "soul component" adds to our understanding of it. Incidentally i also think that this aptidue for language is more than what happens in a particlar part of the brain. That aptidue is part of the larger process that happens in our culture.

Fair enough ... but the word "soul" has a enormous amount of baggage with it ... and what is more that baggage varies widely with everyone who uses the word. Me thinks it is a difficult word to use and mean anything specific or useful.

Very well, I am going to use soul in the sense of the CFR book WHA CHI & the ming hwun.

when it is scanned in. It is not hard to make these distinctions without resorting to metaphysics. This is a good use of Ming since , like latin, it is defined by it's corpus of use.
