It seems to me of late that you are wanting to poke fun at cases where our species adapts to catastropies that it can calculate have a probablity of happening. Well while it is certainly not necessary to overreact and healthy skeptism is well advised ... the opposite reaction of don't-worry-everything-is going-to-be-ok is just as dangerous.

Wikipedia shows the San Andreas Fault line here. But who knows, there is a line of volcanoes that run from Baja to Canada that might be nudged by the Big One That might open soon in a suburb of Seattle

The little red triangles are volcanoes. Use Google Earth if you want a larger view.

Well here is the kicker I was building up to - NOBODY is going to get out of here alive! - Not your children, parents or grandparents, brothers & sisters, nor you & I. If your window on life has a lens of catastrophe, insufficiency, restriction & the like - that is what you will see; that's how you will live. Your present life is given by what you expect in the future you are living into. The future on the other hand is not known exactly. Anything can happen. See 3765. I say that mankind can & will solve all these challenges better from a future created in a context of abundance & capability than one of restriction, regulation & insufficiency.
