Try an experiment - room2

I think it's time to invoke the proposal in 3796 & seriously consider the fish in the water problem so eloquently expressed in 1722. Global Warming & Algore seem to be the topics which lead to breaking points in civility between our opposite points of view.
In a zen class once we did a couple of experiments which we could possibly do here for wonder an amusement

Then i go back and reread to see what i think the person really means, and then i respond to that. I take it that you are after that second response and i agree that is what we should go with.

...I know this is the hardest one to do because I did it in person with someone I knew but rarely conversed with. It goes to the wall that one puts up to protect one's mask & worldly personality. It's not easy to drop. One's first response is of/from that mask - particularly in a fact-to-face encounter. The second one might be "well, actually you may be right (but I want to fight a little longer)" etc. It's very zen when you finally get the point.

Try it with your wife. It may slow down the conversation, but it may really be worth it. In person it is more like the 2nd thought you had about what you are talking about.

but maybe we aught to create a special room for it, like maybe group room 2 . Some topics in the river are going to be really confusing if we don't, eh? Or declare a topic in a tagroom room 2 & from there on we agree to treat the conversation from a zen plane

i like the tag room better than the group and i would prefer room2. As we don't tag comments but just items, then the implication on any item in the room is that people are arguing intentionally on the opposite side than they normally do. It does get kind of sticky when you tag such an item after converstation has already began ... so perhaps the author of the original item should tag it when first published. That act then honestly states that the author is talking from a view which he noramlly does not adopt ... and that perhaps he does not believe. All commentors on that item then must also argue from the position which they normally do not adopt or believe. Sticky .. but it might actually be fun

ill let you decide. Don't forget, the way to declare and define a new tag is to make an item of it and tag that item into a tag.

I think the way to go is to create the room2 & then delete it when the game is over or change it to room2exit. No expectation that you will lie or represent yourself as liking something you don't. It is your argument that may change. A person can always respect another persons way of being, argument or perspective whether he agrees is another thing.

Yeah i don't see any reason the things one says in room2 need to be lies or misrepresentations. Me thinks they should be just as intellectually honest as the things one says outside of the room. If i couldnt's say anything from a room2 perspective about something, i would simply say nothing at all. This could be fun

In fact, after thinking about it ... why even the need to change the tag when the expermint is over ... why, in fact, ever need to end the expermint. Just educate people to watch for the room2 tag if they are concerned with the constancy of a person's views.

The second thing that comes to mind is that my swamp cooler just crapped out & I have to deal with it now ~ 90 degrees here! It's just what I need to deal with !

Logically this particular item should not be tagged with "room2" but rather with "about room2" ... please see a tag for other examples.
