Yet he feels that he must exaggerate the dangers by propounding implausible scenarios in which sea levels rise 20 feet by 2100. He pretends that the science is settled with regard to the effect of global warming on hurricanes. And he pushes a scientifically tenuous connection between the spread of diseases and global warming. These are little inconvenient truths that cut against his belief that global warming constitutes a climate emergency. On balance Gore gets it more right than wrong on the science (we'll leave the policy stuff to another time), but he undercuts his message by becoming the opposite of a global warming denier. He's a global warming exaggerator.

...There are a lot of good points in this article. I also like reason's cartoon:(Gore's movie wasn't doing very well when first released)

And yet Algore goes around the country pretending that it is scientific & trying to cause a crisis with it. Wanna make a bet he doesn't try to run for president in '08 ?

I have long been a critic of former Vice-President Al Gore, but as a recent convert to the view that humanity is contributing significantly to the current increase in average global temperatures, I was trying to keep a somewhat open mind about his new global warming movie, An Inconvenient Truth

Well you can judge yourself whether he kept an open mind but at least he had the honesty to tell us where his sentiments were and i give him credit for that.

I have always said that one should review a movie based upon what it was, rather than upon what one expected it to be. What it was not was a scientific treatis and proof of global warming and what it was not was a "presidential campaign advertisement".

That being said, I think Bailey does raise some valid points; for example i also felt that connecting disease to globla warming was out of place in the movie.

Did Ernesto forget to give us another Katrina ? Anyway, most of the article is doom & gloom but I liked the Headline.

I guess I will need to understand how melting icebergs will raise sea level. So far observing the ice cubes in my drink melting I have never seen the drink spill over the edges of the glass. But maybe I haven't been stoned enough! That would be a neet trick if someone could demonstate it!

The headline does not appear to be justified by the content of the article.
