Where do we see a list of groups?

There is a list of named groups showing their headers in the tagroom .groups.

By convention when you check the box to "use this item as your header", also tag the item ".group" then your group will be in this list too.

the taglist is already approaching a pain to scroll - need search box at the top & same for the other. Conversely a convention that has the tag Group and each each new group with a header posts a link to that header tags that header with "group" - probably would work for now.

yes i agree, some kind of list of groups on the front door is in order. Thing is that when this scales up, you will not be able to list them all. So prolly list the ones with recent activity ... or maybe those that are popular with recent activity. Also in a group there should perhaps be a way for the group members to post which other groups are of interest to them. That just needs someone to grok a real easy way for you to indicate that some other group should be shown as a kind of blogroll on your group page. Any ideas?

Actually it would be better for the system to do this. It is too confusing to try to get the group header under the Living Stream as an item tagged as GROUP

Seth says
the tag "GROUP" to list all groups is a good idea :)

Seth says
but i would have prefered to have it tagged "groups" ... but if you feel strongly will go with 'GROUP' ... right now we have several varieties of this tag ... maybe need to put trash cans on the tags too

Seth says
now im gonna tag this "to agree" because it is an item with an intention attached.

I would like the system to magically make the page header (if overtly checked & not just a default group) place a tag of GROUP on the header item . I would like the word in caps GROUPS to stand out as the aggregator of group headers.

Well we prolly can achieve something very similar to that. True enough the system can issue a tag when you check an item as your header. But I think that it should be a system tag ... prefixed with ~. That way nobody else can corrupt that tag room.

Seth says
Another thing to consider when choosing a name is that tags are case insensitive .. so that /tags/groups is the same room as /tags/GROUPS

Seth says
perhaps there should be another system tag that sorts to the top of the page ... maybe beginning with dot ... let me try it

Seth says
yes .groups ... would sort to the top of the page ... it would be there with other system level tags that the system generates ... while the censor tags ~ will sort to the bottom of the list
