Worm shit tea!

"In tests conducted at Rutgers University, the worm poop almost always outperformed sythetic fertilizers." - National Post

TerraCycle produces a potent, organic, eco-friendly plant food that is the first mass-produced product in the world to be packaged in used plastic soda bottles. To go even further, the entire product is made out of garbage - from the contents to the packaging. As a result, TerraCycle Plant Food is the first mass-produced consumer product to have a negative environmental footprint.

P.S. I've used earthworm castings before to revive orchids - works quite well!

Apparently it is not in the Home Depot's stores that are mentioned on their website. Boo!

Ace hardware has worm poop.  I am going to plant some tomatoes this weekend with some of it.

well they do tell me about worm tea and i expect that i will be getting some soon ... i'll have to check that i have my trays setup correctly to collect it.  are you making your own tea?  as gardening is so new to the customary movements of my body, i am not all that sure  how it will squirm with the worms

Nope! T brings it home from work. I have better things to do. I do note that our soil had a lot of them that come out when it rains.

the volumes of garbage in and worm poo out concerns me as well as the timing of the flows.  also what kind of vegetables will like this stuff.  fun thought ... i mean its not as if i could break anything.  if i didnt do this with my garbarge it would go to the Cedar Grove Composting Facility in Maple valley, who does not use worms, but another faster industrial style processing ... and it would end up in a bag of fertilizer that i could then go buy at Ace Hardware.  You could get some there too instead of the worm tea as they are big in this area and sell world wide.

Do you have any knowledge residue of the experiment you did re bio-dynamic composting when you were in your teens?  I still remember the pile.  I don't remember it being used to grow anything ... or whether the timings worked.

it works out, or so they tell me, that i cannot put animal materials in the worm bin.  so now i suppose that will still be going to Ceder Grove.  Right now it is accumulating mold in a sealed container that is starting to stink in my kitchen.  I hope i will not wretch when i take it out to the recycler.

Actually I do.  But it was a science project for high school biology & I planted a lima bean in chicken shit & one without & the one in chicken shit grew better.  After a while the teacher told me to go outside & dump the experiment in the school landscaping bushes somewhere & I did.  I guess it began to make her class smell.
I would prefer no more on the subject here.  This item is about terracycle.
