A solution to most of all of our problems

This is the simplified idea, viz.

Choose NOW to see everything through the lens of the Golden Rule & NOT through the lenses of an eye for an eye, tit-for-tat, everyone else's hypocrisy & all the rest.

AND Pay it forward.

This would preclude ad hominem attacks & name-calling
It would slow down knee-jerk reaction
It is somewhat contrary to human-nature as expected but not human nature as desired by most humans
It is slightly ahead of it's time
It will never excite the newspapers or main stream media nor get headlines. (no brownie points nor virgins will be issued either)
It requires the development of a spiritual organ in the heart region of the human being, which I call the "golden rule" organ; which literally makes one human feel the condition & pain of another with such reality that he cannot ignore an other's pain & suffering. If you have one of those right now you are probably really confused or in a fair amount of pain .

Assuming that the golden rule is the solution, how do you implement it? Iow, how do you get from here to there?

Individually , one person after another. Show each day by example how well it works. The media can help with movies like Pay it Forward - we need more of them. I liked the TV show Joan of Arcadia although it went off the air & was a little bit churchy-preachy.
I applaud S's asking this question instead of asking what's wrong with this idea. That's a good start. The question What's next? is very kewl.

What we need is a way to spread the meme.

Substitute the meme for the Golden Rule for the PC brainwashing of kids in school for multiculturialism. There was a book called Blue Eyes - Brown Eyes & an experiment that took place in Texas that Tony Robbins showed as a movie during cert. It makes a very powerful statement in the racial area but could be extended well beyond it's original context.

Google has lots of references to Blue Eyes Brown Eyes .

Although somebody is trying to make a lot of money on the idea in one of the links above. There is some hint in the PBS frontline movies here.

The idea would be to extend the idea to the other areas: politics, religion, poverty, the Middle East (get ahead of the madrases!) & the like.
