Religion of Love vs Hate

Love is part of some religions. The parables of the new testament show many examples about how love can be expressed. They are the definition of love in practice! It's really the Golden Rule all over again. Love one another as much as you want to be loved by another! (A corollary is Love God the same way) . Love was part of most major religions at one time but now has taken over the Earth & is so much more than any religion. We can all love one another without the need for a religion or set of deistic beliefs. Shun religions or all religions that hate. Watch their fruits - that is how you can tell whether they are on the side of Love

or side of Hate

Some versions of the parables are here. If you look hard enough in some of them you will still find the Golden Rule.

One may wonder why the "He who is without sin cast the first stone" comment. The story is about an adulterous woman who is about to be stoned to death. Other than I found it appropriate for those who would like to punish others for their transgressions - it is appropriate to consider now in today's times where one religion would like to destroy another.

I think both Islam and Christianity have an intention to spread and gather adherants. If, and only if, you have a zero sum assumption, then you must conlcude as one spreads the other dimishes ... iow, one intends to destroy the other. But me thinks that holding to the zero sum assumption is the problem, not the intention of a relion to spread.

This is mostly off-topic. I did not mention Islam or Christianity. I know your viewpoint well from other posts. This is about the corollary "he who is without sin ...." to the Golden Rule. Anyone who followed that idea would not kill another for a sin - real or imagined because, most likely, they couldn't fit the criteria.

I think the question is whether there even is such a religion. In a way me thinks the Pope was actually addressing that point in his recent words. The Vatican insists that his words concluded "with a clear and radical rejection of the religious motivation for violence".

Well, if the Pope could speak for all religions that would indeed be nice! But he doesn't. There are indeed radical sects of Islam that do kill people for their sins & invoke Sharia for all kinds of sins. Hate enshrouded in religion still exists - to pretend otherwise is to ignore the history of the last 10 years or more.

religion - a belief is just a feeling of certainty about something - in this case religion is about God. I use it also to refer to atheism & liberalism & conservatism - these are religions to me!

Measure your feelings about religion & how strong that feeling of certitude is *your own* about whatever you believe in that domain. Now measure that against your liberalism or whatever you call that. Notice where you feel it in your body; how hot & cold, how sharp or dull, how pulsed or smoothe. You can do it on your own - no help from Ann.
