The Evening Crescent Moon

A long time ago i had a very very good day. In the evening i went out and saw the Crescent Moon. This happened several other days that same year. It is not hard to understand that now, when i go out in the evening after a good day, i look to the Western sky expecting to see the crescent. Those days are just not that good now unless i see my moon sliver.
It is not hard for me to understand that the actual sighting of the Crescent Moon is necessary for Ramadan to begin. It does not happen until i see it happen. This sighting validates the coordination between a personal inner subjective universe and the outer one in which we all live.
Tonight i will go out and try to capture for you my sighting and i will try to make this a good day.

During the month of Ramadan, which this year ends on October 22, Muslims around the world refrain from eating or drinking during daylight hours and break their fast at nightly iftar dinners at sunset. Iftar dinners are intended to be community gatherings where Muslims invite family and friends to join in the festive meal.

Timing
The holiday follows the month of Ramadan, falling on the first day of Shawwal (the tenth month in the Islamic calendar). As with all months in the Islamic calendar, it begins with the sighting of the new moon. For this reason there may be regional differences in the exact date of Eid, with some Muslims fasting for 29 days and some for 30 days.
Eid ul-Fitr commemorates the end of the month of Ramadan. Fasting is forbidden on this day as it marks the end of the month-long fast of Ramadan. A Muslim is encouraged to rise early and partake of some dates or a light, sweet snack, significant because for the past 30 days they have abstained from all food and drink from dawn till dusk. Many Muslims feel a sense of loss or sadness at the passing of Ramadan.
