Trashing Tags

Introducing a rather liberal approach to deleting tags

Notice the little trash can above the tags on each items in the permalink screen. Click that and all the tags on that item are gone.

Make sure that your reapply any tags that are appropriate for the item.

We may need to restrict this later, however for now, use it as a fast and dirty tool to clean up our tag mess.

Also there is a trash can on the top of tagrooms This is to be used to delete that tag on all items in the tagroom - effectively deleting the use of that tag globally.

I pushed the trashcan on the tags for your item on tags and it disappeared entirely - not a good feature. See if you can find it. I coined the tag "gub" - bug spelled backwards to accommodate things that need FAQs or more documentation, help or explaining - just to get rid of them from the bug tag.
Hmmm .... yes an untagged item is truly hard to find. Perhaps this feature should only be activated on permalinks, then at least the item will still be on your screen to be retagged after you trash it.

Note the that just appeared on the of tagrooms - use it to delete a tag globally.

Thanks, now you can help by telling me how to do the quotes thing!

Seth says
(blockquote) what you are quoting (/blockquote) ... only obviously use the angeled braces

Seth says
looks like it is a bug that the delete tags is case insensitive. im gonna make an item for the bug que.

Seth says
Ok, trashcan has been removed on all pages except permalinks

Seth says
There is no similar fix for the trashcan at the top of tagrooms. Once you click it the tagroom goes away. Make sure that you apply your new tag to all the items in the room before you remove the erronious tag.

Seth says
Yes this is a gub. But we need to play with it for a while to see how it is that we really want it to work. I think when released, the trascan should only appear (or apply to) your cookie group.

Mark de LA says
i think the trashcan on the tagroom is very dangerous - did you find your tags item with the description of the valid characters in a tag ?

Seth says
Yes, it was in the faq group ... i tagged it with "faq" and "tags" here is its permalink

Yes perhaps. Thing about the trascan in the tagroom is that you can apply the desired tags prior to trashing the one that is misspelled. We still need to grok how this tag delete should work. I hadn't anticipated that llosing the item would have been a big consideration of the protocol design.
