Surprise, surprise the media follow scripts too!

About: michelle malkin: hitt again: all the abortion lies fit to reprint

Links to the video are here.  (just an example on media script NOT about Bush)
The media follows a script too! It leans mostly against the current administration. In the beginning it was "Bush is illegitimate president". In the middle it was "Bush lied - people died".  Currently it is becoming can anyone stop Bush from escalating.  Soon it will be "isn't it time for impeachment?" & in the final days it will be (I predict) in the words of MLK "Free at last ... free at last. Thank God Almighty, we're free at last".
The sick shit about all this is that it is self-fulfilling!
If anyone (we?) suddenly became cooperative instead of adversarial we would see that the media scripts are leading to ruin, defeat, victory for the enemies of the free world & terror on our own shores.  Unfortunately, I think the scripts will continue & this is our fate dealt in the cards (below) by the politics of our media.
Another piece of sick shit is that the war would be over by now if , instead of the liberals & the Democrat Party making it about their regaining their power back after being out of it for the last 8 years, they decided to come together as one for the benefit of our countryFat chance near a major election in 2008.

Everybody writes scripts; it is what we do; fortelling the future is part of being human.  The talk in the media is not the problem ... that is just evidance of political awareness.  The problem is what we do as a nation.  The problem is that our leaders have chosen an "adversarial" stance twards the middle east and they continue to do so ... ever more escalating ... with their words they are creating enemies, where none need exist ... and then terrifying the American public.  When that public shouts "foul", then their response, and yours Sir, is to blaim the messinger.  We did not need to invade Iraq, we do not need to stay there, the consequences of our leaving will be far less than we have already suffered, we do not need to attack Iran.  Apparently if we have no enemy, our leaders have deemed it necessary to create one  ... why? ...  well look to who is profiting from all this fear and military conflict.  Absorb this video for another point of view.  The Emperior has no clothes !  Ignore that at your own peril.

Thanks, Seth, for illustrating my point!  You know nothing about the war, nor Bush, nor war scripts except that you eat from the same trough that the media does & pisses in. You are at least several degrees of separation from the action in Iraq & the Middle East & the action in the government where military decisions are made.  Your mind is thus conditioned from that trough - enjoy the cards!

Have you considered that this war in Iraq is just your feared RWG game on a national basis with real lives at stake ?

All War is the RWG gone horribly bad! So WHAT?  I don't fear it. I usually only talk about the RWG to those from whom I can expect more enlightened responses & those I expect to have a higher degree of consciousness than the hoi polloi.  Those who are brain-washed into accepting the media & commentary at face value are boring machines for the most part.
Evolution may take those of us who are friendly to the goals of the human race to a higher existence where the RWG appears just a retarded curiousity.  I hope so! I hope that we survive long enough to find out what that's like.
But then, someone else once told me that hope is like trying to glue wings on worms hoping for a butterfly.

True, your "higher existence" will come when people realize that zero sum games are not necessary.  But your item above talking of , "we would see that the media scripts are leading to ruin, defeat, victory for the enemies of the free world & terror on our own shores" is just another transaction in the RWG zero sum game.   Contrast that to my approach which sees the entire conflict as not necessary

Mark de LA says
Zero-sum games are not part of my repertoire. Are they yours ? Come up with some solutions.  Rapid & precipitous withdrawl will make a blood-bath of perhaps the Shiites against the Sunni.  Saudia Arabia & many other countries are mostly Sunni (Turkey, Jordan & others) .  That doesn't look like something to look forward to.

I think the best solution is to make Iraq work.  Then resolve never again to try to build a nation by warfare; thus learning from experience.  I'm not sure that N. Korea will agree, nor China, nor Iran. But, such a step is education for the countries of the World & somebody had to do it.  Terrorism is another thing to solve, but not in this blog at this moment.

Well i certainly agree that a "resolve never again to try to build a nation by warfare" is wisdom incarnate!   But i am not convinced that there is any way to make the current Iraq government work.  Stubbornly holding to that idea against all informed analysis to the contrary is, i suppose, the alter on which hundreds of thousands of lives and much of our American wealth must yet be sacrificed.

In the martial arts one is in a continuous response to what is happening in the combat of the moment. If one is somewhere else mentally & physically one is lost.  If a combatant does not move & change in the dance of combat he will get clobbered. Neither the public nor the generals & especially the media understands or appreciates this. They all think that everything in a war should come down to sound bytes, milestones, goals, and fit in a 1 hour TV program or sitcom. America's attention span would be diagnosed as ADHD if it were all in one person. Read some books on the martial arts especially those of Peter Ralston at Cheng Hsin.  It will amaze you.
I like the line from book Chameleon: (the hex of sprouting)
source: ... Lurk, withdraw, upon them: zeal & zest!
... with real people & real combat surrender is rarely an option. There is always some difficulty in a new beginning. This phrase is also in Liber Legis III,9 for additional context.

Here is some "informed analysis" from a welcome source ...
source: William F. Buckley

A geographical division of Iraq is inevitable. The major players are obvious. It isn't plain how America, as an outside party, could play an effective role, let alone one that was decisive, in that national redefinition. And America would do well to encourage non-American agents to act as brokers

Zero-sum is just another term for RWG.  It is a bit more general and eliminates the semantically sticky problem of defining the concepts "right" and "wrong".
Come up with some solutions.

24 is a Neocon Sex Fantasy

Just like Michael Moore's Fahrenhype 911 was a liberal sex fantasy!  Go back to bed you are still sick!

Actually the suit-case nukes are a frighteningly real senario ... the fantasy is Jack Bauer's character and what passess for a president.  One of my favorite thought problems is figuering out how to get the materials inside the country.  Unfortunately i am not the only one working on the problem.  Eliminating fissionable  materials at their source is the only way to prevent this from happening inevitably. I have proposed the most practical method of doing that in 4909.  Getting involved in Shai vs Sunni fighting in Iraq serves only to make the danger worse.

Mark de LA says
Too bad jack is only fictional!

While Mark blames the failures on the Democrats, Maliki blames the failures on the Bush administration. Actually i can understand why Bush is reluctant to effectively arm the Iraqi military because of the "concern that US military hardware could end up in the hands of militias and insurgents."

One wonders just how far we are away from Hollywood writing our homeland secrurity scripts ... more coverage on 24.

I think they are probably waiting for some kind of assurance that the army & police are not still full of insurgents & terrorists. Then too, it might be a wait & see if Maliki will make the political adjustments for the Sunni & Kurds so that all oil revenues are divided equally.

Still proving my original point, eh ? The series Right Wing & Commander in Chief tried to write scripts for liberals in government & HRC's ascendancy to the president - the latter was a failure as a series (hopefully in real life too)! The latest media orgasm of fear is that the series 24 will somehow remind the country that there is still a war on terrorism by waking the hoi polloi out of their consumerism, government cures all our problems stupor, & loss of memory regarding 9-11.  Enjoy the memory loss while you can!

Seth says
For the record i have no problems with effective measures of homland security to thwart terrorist plots.  The recent passage in the House of a bill to fully implement the 9-11 commission recommendations is a case in point.  The measures we need are primarialy policing and security technology to be implement within our boarders, and good intelligence measures to be implemented abroad.  And to do that we do not need to infringe on the bill of rights of American citizens.  If we had spent a fraction of the budget that we spent to flail at Bush's dream of fredom and democracy in a Shia dominated land far away from our boarders, then we would have had the strongest possible saftey here at home.
