Apparently you are an "environmental wacko" if you grok that pumping billions of pounds of gassess into the athmosphere is going to change the athmosphere. Apparently if you require that our political bodies deal the the consequences of that chage you are a global alarmist.

And exactly how do you know that man cannot destroy the Earth? That is a serious question and it deserves a serious answer. There are plenty of examples where an area of the Earth has been rendered uninhabitable by the actions of man ... Chernobyl comes easily to mind. Why then can we not, through carelessness and a lack of foresight, render then entire planet uninhabitable?

And, imho, God has set up a situation such that just when we have enough wisdome to prevent the destruction of the Earth we are faced with a challenge of acting with enough collective maturity to prevent such a disaster. That proposition is just as reasonable as a belief that God set it up such that we could not destroy the Earth. It is stupid to run a country based upon propositions of faith. It is also stupid to think that you know what is in the mind of God and to make public policy accordingly.

It is not a matter of arrogance visa-a-vis God. It has nothing to do with God. It is a matter of taking responsibility for the consequences of your actions!

Let us say for the sake of argument that i don't know. That is my point, this is a indefeasible proposition ... either way. Although there are plenty of examples where man has made areas uninhabital ... there is no easy proof that "God would allow us the power and choice to destroy the entire firmamint". Nore is there any proof that God will protect us from our own negligance ... even though there are scant examples of him doing so. Nore, for that matter, am i aware of any scriputal passages that support that God has made earth undestructable by man. As far as i know you made it up. Public policy should not be governed by the whims of religious belief. We need to rationally take responsibility for the consequences of our actions.

I tend to think that you have it backwards. The enviro-mentals are the ones who want to turn the government into regulating everything a person does; from the CO2 he breathes out, to the farts he blows, to what he drives, to the number of children he has, & to where he lives (remember the cry of the enviro-mentals about urban sprawl). I say again I am not for pollution. I am for finding new sources of energy & making the old ones more efficient until we do. In short, cultivating a true love for the Earth & making that love active within each person will go a lot farther than trying to regulate things like the weather & the climate which nobody has a good handle on today nor for the foreseeable future. Above all you do more good without panic - especially governmental & political panic. The sky is not falling! Your assessment of my theology is pure fiction!

Point is that your statement above is a theological argument against doing something practical to meliorate the consequences of the industrial revolution on our planet's athmosphere. I actually doubt that you though it through because it is one of the stupidest things i have ever heard. Now you could make a reasonable argument for man's small effect visa-vie the vastness of the Earth's athmosphere .... afterall one would not expect that a flea population could effect the athmosphere very drastically. But not being able to "destroy what God hath wrought" as an argument has theological rammifications that, i for one, think are not only childish but actually dangerous. I'm glad that it is hard to find others who believe such an absurdity.
