hmmm ... basically what i see is a mentograph of items related by formal labels like "is supported by" and "is disputed by". That mentograph can be built using the cybermind method of labeling comments formally between items that i scoped out in the comments of this item. What does "threads" add to such a project ?

unknown says
presumable you are talking about the "threads" feature that emerged here ... so if that is true, then what does the "this" in the title of this item refer to ?

Seth says
I would like a wizzard to provide the labels from one argument to another.
How is the wizzard to calculate that label ?

Mark de LA says
in the context of threads & argumentation Macrovu shows a "train-of-thought" supporting or disputing a proposition.

Mark de LA says
I don't know about a wizzard - i guess that if it was easy Macrovu would have already done it and sold the software. I know that making such a large chart and/or a threaded website following such a complex proposition would require a lot of drawing & redrawing. Since only one sub argument can be read at a time, though I suspect a navigational paradigm like buttons labeled "is supported by" & "is contraticted by" and a "reset to milestone XX" might be a good start. ... just thinking out loud (silently).

Mark de LA says
Such a navigational system might help thread comments on items to form a conversational thread as well.

Mark de LA says
.... instead of indentation like slashdot

Actually this is where fastblogit can help. Just have humans comment items with the formal labels and fastblogit can draw those pages like you see at the Macrovu Website automatically. Also, i get, how threads could help someone compose what the input to the drawing process would be. Given a thread, and given that there are formal labels on the items that the thread runs upon, there is an algorithm that will output their graphs. :)

Mark de LA says
yep! I am more interested in the threaded website than the paper graphs unless you can drag the canvass in the computer to a spot you want (much like google maps) - lets say a "map" or mentograph of an argument a la google maps

Seth says
well seems to me that the threaded website u get based upon just producing the thread. thing is that you might need a separate output site that showed you the items from the thread displaying them and selecting them according to the formality of the labels that you have chosen.

Mark de LA says
yep

Mark de LA says
This begins to point in the direction of the database schema as the model and different sets of what seth calls "output" sites - or MVC like Ruby on Rails.

Seth says
This begins to point in the direction of the database schema as the model
... err .. well ... yes ... but the database scheme is an implementation of the mentography as is always the case with my stuff ... err .. but have not written the mentograph yet.

Seth says
... here the item is supreme ...forms the basis of the sym links .... links are relatons ... there are various stratagies for labeling links .. not sure which will be developed. The beautiful thing is that it all FLOWS throw the feeds. That part is totally new and was not developed in cybermind, except perhaps that we could import and export some CyEnglish.

Mark de LA says
[test is implemented by: item 1029] the labeled links was all that is necessary. May need to have a "label room" to gather the arguments all in one place.

The only one that I would have chosen, (all I wanted was a picture of a real pig) , was uri http://www.hedweb.com/hedethic/pigdefend.htm - unfortunately he was happy & not depressed.
