Tracking My Predictions of Gas Prices in Renton
I'm batting 100 so far with my predictions:
Some time in 2005 i bet i would never fill up my tank in Renton Washington paying less than $2.00
In the run up to the mid term election when gas prices were dropping, I predicted that they would start back up right exactly after the election.

The time before i filled up my tank the price per gallon was about $2.89. That was the same day the British Soldiers were caputred on the Shatt Al-Arab. I predicted that next time i filled up my tank i would pay $3.00 or more. Well i was 99.999 % right.
Btw the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) is an excellant source of information about the oil industry. They even have detailed anslyisis by country ... for example here is USA, China, Russia, Japan and Iran ... just in case you wanted to know where particular countries get their oil.

You might want to hold off on the gasoline for your car until the Iran thingy settles down

Must break your heart that it dropped from $4. Your lowest by mapquest is ~2.19
Well yesterday or so, after I tanked up we finally went below $2:

I enjoy paying less just like the rest of you guys. A tank costs about half as much as it did at the peak of the bubble. The bubble burst because of decreased demand, then as prices went down it was too risky to bet that they would keep going up so that there was not all that much interest in the up side. What is good about that is that it leaves some room for the carbon caps to redistribute our energy to alternatives ... you know ... spread it around

Perhaps we should go back to the horse & buggy days; the horse shit being the same. Subsidizing inefficient industries just to say you are using an alternative is just taxing everyone. Most taxes are not used for what they pretend they are for. The Big Tobacco industry got fined & taxed & when they finally paid up the taxes didn't go for preventing the unhealthy aspects of smoking, but for more government social programs. I expect carbon caps to be the same. The benefit of the horse & buggy is that you can burn the horse turds in your fireplace for heat in the winter!
Definitely bad alternatives so far are ethanol & bio-diesel; ethanol affects the food supply chain & bio-diesel still burns something.
