I slam the word SLAM!

About: 29,200,000 uses of the word SLAM at Google News

The word slam seems to be one of the most frequent incitive, angry words in the headlines of newspaper articles & internet pubs.  I wonder if getting rid of it would make a Kinder, Gentler America & by extension the World.  Are there any other words like that, that the M$M uses, that folks here would like to make disappear? (Maybe bash?(34,200,000))

& the beat goes on .......Google News
Obama slams  .......141
Hillary slams ..........113
McCain slams ........ 76
Clinton slams .........127
slams in general ...6265
google slam .. 39,300,000
Who wins the slam awards?

The Christian Science Monitor has some interesting purpose behind their paper & website.
Is publishing the Monitor about spreading good values?
source: ... That's part of it, but let's be clear: The Christian Science church doesn't publish news to propagate denominational doctrine; it provides news purely as a public service. Here's why: If the basic theology of that church says that what reaches and affects thought shapes experience, it follows that a newspaper would have significant impact on the lives of those who read it.

Obama slams VP suggestion
Edmonton Sun,  Canada - Mar 11, 2008
Democrat Barack Obama ridiculed the idea of being Hillary Rodham Clinton's running mate yesterday, saying voters must choose between the two for the top ...
... in the 113 Hillary slams but it really is an Obama slam.   There are only 3 "Hillary Slams".

I think the word "slam" is a useful word, but perhaps the act of slamming is nasty.  Like bashing it is something that politicians and political spectators do to pass time between wasting money.

This was just a snapshot qualitative not quantitative look & followup. Yep, Google just counts the keywords & not the grammar & syntax in the article. Frankly, bashed yielded similar but bigger results:
Hillary bashed .... 221,000
Obama bashed ... 215,000
McCain bashed ... 129,000
What does it all mean ?  I'll take a stab at it & say that in the context of contemporary society the M$M perceives that the liberal candidates, in spite of their anti-war mouthings, seem to be more combative in their words & stance than the Republican! OTOH, it might just be the M$M doing their usual drive-by occupation of hyping controversy to make money. A real study of this phenomenon should be left to some enterprising journalism/media grad student!

.... extend the word cloud to fight metaphors, war metaphors & anger soft & hard-core expletives  & you get what the M$M does best - write headline hype. Some enterprising youth should examine all the political campaign speeches from the 2008  presidential campaign for use the words & phrase " I'm going to fight ......" & see what's changed in the light of the Tuscon massacre & pols still decrying what is an already, always use of such metaphors in the RWG of politics.

The metaphor from Star Wars is as ever apropos:

Yeah, the quote marks in the google search throw off the count & have no selectivity for the news. I input them manually to google news & got my counts.

Just one of the many ways entirely different verses can coexist in the same space. Technology has helped the acceleration of parallel verse awareness in our times because it provides so many more loopholes for our attention.

No. This is very specific and consistent. It’s science. The rules are fixed and apply.
