35 years ago this article from The Journal for Anthroposophy suggests nuclear power was headed in the wrong direction. I'm not sure how much spiritual science was involved versus the fear of nuclear power. It is a good, short read. He suggests solar power or at least power not from death processes (decay). In that vein the History channel last night had an interesting expose on the Sun which is also on tomorrow. In any case the Sun itself is doomed & the Earth along with it in about a billion +/- a billion years or so. Solar explosions of gas & energy could get us at any time or at least destroy our infrastructure - they are as unpredictable as the weather - maybe an 8 minute warning or so.

Those incorporated in a physical body like we have today will have to go elsewhere!

In the article photosynthesis was mentioned briefly. I wonder if any subtle energy systems could be made through those sources (biological versus photovoltaic or heat) creates new matter not destroying it. Anyway here is a picture of our friend the Sun: (that's a rather large flare - some say that they get large enough to fit the planet Jupiter through the hoop)

I think Eric Reiter was into some of the photosynthesis stuff. I wonder if he got anywhere? I remember he was exciting photosynthesis by some kind of feedback loop.

Energy, as you know, flows down hill. But the life force fights against that down hill flow and actually retrieves the energy it needs to function and grow from the down hill decay of things. So i I don't see Rascher's spiritual point ... we do get our energy from death ... that's what digestion is all about. I agree that getting energy from photosynthesis is kewl ... in a sense that's what we do now ... but a more direct rout would be super kewl.

I am aware of entropy, but entropy can't explain life - at least it is not the final word on energy. There seems to be lots of energy in the Universe, black holes included.

Entropy does not "explain life", rather life struggles against it ... one might even say that life utilizes entropy to grow and function ... life feeds upon entropy .... it leverages death and decay to grow and flourish. That's pretty much the opposite spiritiual view to what Rascher is touting.

To me it is all recycling. Neither birth nor death is the master.
