Stone-Buhr Grainery

About: ......... stone-buhr .........

I found this in an archive pile yesterday. I wonder how it exists today. I suspect that all that remains is the brand name. The cookbook is available used on eBay.  This is where we got a lot of the flour for Lotus' bread and brioche; via the health food stores.  Apparently the mill ownership has been passed around by the big boys over the past decades.

I remember Lotus's Brioche ... but we pronounced it "bree-o-es" ... the way she made them they were a cross between a muffin and a bread... very yeasty ... and very light ... they would melt in your mouth.  She would raise the bread in the fridge several times.  Wow they were good!  Is that recipe in there?

I have several of her hand written recipe cards.  I tried miserably to reproduce it, but the instructions were probably just a suggestion for her.  She knew how to make them without the recipes & I'm sure she altered them according to what she thought at the time she made them.
