A Classical Chinese Garden, Portland Oregon

There are an infinity of views of Portland and of Chinese Gardens.  Why pick one over all the others?  My dad was into Chinese Gardens and even made some small ones in the back yard ... but he didn't use the aeration from a waterfall and consequently they changed into fetid little pools.  The gardens in Portland occupy a full city block ... the patterns on the stone paths are impressive ... don't be fooled into thinking that the strangely shaped rocks are fake, they are Tai Hu rocks mined from Lake Tai near Suzhou in China.  Some of the pictures in the Scholar's room look more like American Indians than Chinese which makes you wonder about the connection of the two.  The fragrance in the tea room was superb yet sadly we didn't terry long enough to sample it.  The sound of the bell still echos in my head.  A view is always more about the viewer than the viewed ... i carried away these images in my camera, but am not so sure that i carried accurate images of the ancient art of Chinese Gardens in my mind ... but my curiosity is peaked and now i am thinking of visiting the Chinese Gardens in Seattle.
