Layers along the banks


A layer of chalk, a layer of clay, a layer of bricks from a factory long gone, and a layer of seaweed makes the banks of the Duwamish River near Kellogg Island.

Below is a wider view.  This is where your intrepid photographer got cold feet and turned back.  The bank was too narrow and it was too easy to slip down into the river.  I was trying to get as close as i could to the docks of the huge  Lafarge Portland Cement factory in the distance. 

Later i snapped some photos of the factory from the other side of the river but the light was not in my favor; instead i caught the resident Blue Heron.
