well , right now, you have a bunch or sometimes rude test items in it. Later, with more contributors it will become fascinating.

I would expect sign in first or combine sign in with /add you may be onto something

For new people I like the look & feel of the common river as an introduction. It gives people the flavor of the site without having to determine "Do I have something to say" - "How do i become a member" , "How do I enter something?" etc.

The living stream is NOT boring the others are.

good point ... let's hope it stays that way

I say it's a lot more fun than looking thru the standard blogs

may need to spread it by invitation

There are pros and cons that weigh heavily on this decision.  Also different designs may be preferable for different strategic reasons at different phases of  our growth.   Initially we will "open" with only our own content in the stream.  People who go to the front door will see only what we would want them to see.  Once we get even a relatively traffic to the site, then that may change.  If the people who come to the site are reluctant to post (and that has been our experience up to now),  then for a while it will still be just us posting there.  But when people start clicking the submit button, there will be all kinds of non serious items created.  Those will dramatically change what people see when they come to the front door.  This may be a big turn off to the people who may have provided interesting content.  Another aspect of this is that the people who do provide content may be more from the porno aspects so that the front door may become cluttered with that.   So it is likely that the stream will become cluttered with inanities ... people writhing ada;lsdjf;alsdjf;alsdjkfa in the say what box ... and porno.  If that happens, then serious posters will turn away.

This may be a big problem and i'm not sure how to solve it ...

This is a good idea and will help to ameriate the prob discussed above.

May have to turn this into a signup with email & traceability like the others in order to avoid what you call the big turn off

Seth says
... hoepfully not ... if that happens, then i will have failed in my persuit ... but i think you, youself, may have come up with the solution ... see about private tag rooms
