Bittergate: washing the bitter taste out our mouths

Me thinks Obama  should put Bittergate behind him.  There is no advantage for him in trying to make the point he was trying to make in the San Francisco fund raiser.  In fact the opposition will continually keep chipping away at his lead by re-quoting  his misshapen uttering.   What's the point, especially since what he said is simply was not true.   Oh sure enough, some people are bitter especially the working  middle class.  And it is also true that some people cling to the things they hold constant: religion, guns,  etc.  Nobody should get pushed out of shape by those truths being restated.  But what is not true, and what is misshapen is that the one implies the other.

Here let me lay it out in painful detail:

   Some people are bitter.  (true)
Some people cling to religion.  (true)
Some people cling to guns.  (true)
People cling to religion or guns because they are bitter.  (false)

So what Barack should do is call a press conference and get some positive coverage for a change and at the same time pull the rug out from under these attacks.  He should say that he is deeply sorry that he offended anyone by thinking out loud about material from the book "What's the Matter With Kansas".   He should then admit that what he said was just plain false:  People do not cling to religion or guns because they are bitter.   He could go on to explain why people are bitter at what the current administration and Congress have been doing in Washington.

Well at least that's the speech i would make.

Basically bitter people are bitter - not much else to say. Not all people are bitter. When you look through the lens of bitterness don't be surprised if you see bitterness everywhere you look. If you look through the lens of how great a country we live in & such wonderful opportunities you have as Americans you will find other things besides bitterness.
BTW, What the fuck happened to the HOPE thingy?
Yep, calling people "bitter" was not a good move ... especially where he singeled out small town America.   The lick he should have gone for is "I'm mad as hell, and i'm not going to take it anymore".  The hope thingy is another topic.
A better move (see: better truth) would have been to look around through different glasses!

The different glasses is "The Audacity of Hope" ... strange that you don't seem to be able to see through them.

Both Democrat party candidates are racist! Who knew?
It was interesting that on Hannity & Colmes (I paraphrase)  the question was asked are the facts true? The answer was yes! The next question was then why is this racist? Essentially, the answer to that was that she mentioned the word "white". The funny thing about it all was that the night of the primary of Indiana & North Carolina every channel I watched (esp Fox News & CNN) had the blow by blow demographics, white & black running in graphics along side their ceaseless blather.  So, I say that it is the media that is the most racist of them all ***.  Maybe if Congress were to treat racial distinction on TV (via the FCC) the same way they treat graphic deaths, child pornography, & Don Imus then racism would begin to recede into the background.
   *** It's not NEWS it's RACISM! ***

source: Hillary
Senator Obama's support . . . "among working, hardworking Americans, white Americans, is weakening again"
Lots of pundants, myself included, found these remarks racist.  It would not have had quite such a bite had she said amoung working class Americans, or even white Americans, ... but no, she had to correct herself and specific "hardworking white Americans".  I wonder how many of her constituents are actually put off by her pandering to those who would identify themselves as "hardworking white Americans" ?

It was interesting that on Hannity & Colmes (I paraphrase)  the question was asked are the facts true?
What was true?  Now perhaps it was true that she has the most white Americans.  Perhaps she has the most blue collar Americans.  But i doubt there were any questions going into the polling regarding "hardworking".   That was the word that left a googie ring in my ear.  And that is the classification that, should one ever be able to measure it, is probably untrue.

The other thing that offends me personally about Hillary is her overt pandering to demographics.  Obama does not do that ... at least not in his public spoken words ... Hillary does.  It is divisive.  That kind of analysis should be left to backroom stratagist, but is not the kind of thing to tell the public and try to get their juices flowing.  I find Hillary a clown ... pandering to whoever will get her a vote.

"hardworking" is a fluff word just line 99% of what Obama says. See 10032.
They both want to raise your taxes & mine - fuck them all!

And to put Hillary's coalition of hard working white Americans in perspective read Wow, We Nominated the black man.  I'ts also required reading for all of those people who think McCain has a chance.
Yep, it's all about racism - at least 400 years backward into tribalism!
No it's all about demographics.  Even Hillay's "hard working white Americans" wasn't really racists, my own comments notwistanding.  This next election will be all about the changing  demographics of America.  I doubt that this change will be hearalded by the "hard working white Americans"  who would have formed Hillary's coalition.  Now you need to throw out the old blue-state red-state map.  Now, as we bid Hillary adieu, we have a real choice in 2008 :  a president who reflects all the people, or a president who reflects only the old power structre.

Maybe if you want to understand Clinton's use of "white" recently you should read this from the editor emeritus of the Washington Times.
Perhaps, all that is really needed is to grok the following cartoon:

I found no "understanding" in Pruden's article whatsoever.  What capped his lack of understanding for me was where he repeated every untrue slur against Obama as a parting shot.  Hopefully that kind of political analysis is not what third street is all about.

3rd street is not for those who have no ears to hear with!

Nor is 3rd street for those wedded to tribalism & sexism.
Apparently 3rd street is only for those who pander to fake demographics.  You migh ask yourself whether your words here are encouraging anyone to go to 3rd street.
